How the Matching Algorithm Works in Self-Matching
Overview
In self-matching programs, mentees can browse and request mentors on their own. The Apply Matching Algorithm setting controls which participants appear in self-search and how matches are suggested.
Algorithm ON vs OFF
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| ON | Participants only see and can connect with others who match the algorithm. Conditional matching rules also apply. |
| OFF | Participants see all participants, regardless of algorithm match. First suggestions prioritize the algorithm, but additional options from full profiles are also shown. Conditional matching rules still apply. |

Tip for Admins: Make sure your conditional matching rules are set correctly to guide self-matching participants toward the best matches, especially when the algorithm is ON.
